Directories for Identifying Hummingbirds in Canada...

Here are three directories to help you identify hummingbirds in Canada... even if you know nothing about them. (This Canadian directory and the USA version are structured exactly the same... the only differences are the hummingbirds sighted in each location.)

If you do know what a particular hummingbird looks like, but don't know its name, use the Picture Directory of Hummingbirds Sighted in Canada in the column to the right. Click on a picture to go directly to a page dedicated to that species..

If you already know the name of the hummingbird species, or have a pretty good idea what it is, or just want to know more about a particular species, go to the Species Directory of Hummingbirds Sighted in Canada further down the page. Click on a hummingbird name to go right to the species' page.

Are you like most people... you don't know very much about hummingbirds, but would like to know more? Especially, the ones that visit your feeders? The third directory is especially for you. Just follow these two easy steps...

The first step in identifying hummingbirds is selecting the area you are interested in. The following Location Directory of Canada lists Provinces and Territories, and the hummingbird species that have been sighted in each. Just click on a species name to go to a page dedicated to that hummingbird.

The next step is learning how to identify these hummingbirds. Each hummingbird page features pictures of the adult male hummingbird, and of the female and juvenile if available. Videos are also included when available.

Most hummingbird pages also include maps showing summer and winter sightings. You'll also find lots of books that will help you recognize these eagerly anticipated little visitors to your backyard.

The detailed identification tips and nesting information will definitely help you identify these fascinating little creatures.
